FootGolf is a very ‘addictive’ sport that is a hybrid of Golf and Soccer. The concept of FootGolf is the same as golf, you start at a particular spot (tee) with the goal of getting the ball (soccer ball) into the hole (cup) within a certain number of kicks. The player with the lowest score, fewest number of kicks to get the ball in the hole, wins. FootGolf uses the basic model of golf, with a tee box, a cup, bunkers, hazards and 9 or 18 holes of play. There is par for each hole, mimicking golf’s scorecard, and you still play as a single, twosome, threesome or foursome. The key difference between golf and FootGolf is that the cups are 22″ in diameter and the cup is located off the green. Additionally, the only equipment required to play FootGolf is a soccer ball. One of the greatest benefits of FootGolf is that it allows golfers to bring their non-golfing friends to the course, and they can play along side each other, one playing golf the other playing FootGolf! Van Nuys Golf Course is the first FootGolf course in the San Fernando Valley and has aligned itself with the American FootGolf League (AFGL) which is the governing body for the sport of FootGolf in the United States.
